This API lets you send information from your system to Import of products, animals food and feed systems (IPAFFS).
Currently, you can only send CHED-PP information using this API.
Benefits of using this API
Many importers, traders and agencies use their own software to manage their consignments. However, they often have to re-enter this information manually in IPAFFS.
With this API, you can transfer consignment information directly to IPAFFS as a draft CHED
You will still need to manually submit draft CHEDs using IPAFFS.
What it can do
This API can:
- send information to IPAFFS
- validate that information
- report errors
- give you a draft CHED reference number when successful
- manage your importer and consigner address book
What it can’t do
This API cannot:
- overwrite, edit or copy existing CHEDs
- upload attachments, like health certificates
- submit a finalised CHED to IPAFFS
You can do all this manually in IPAFFS.
You can view the API specification in order to find out more technical detail on what functionality is available.
Coming soon
We are working on letting users submit draft CHED-Ps using this API. We are exploring other features.
Who can use it
This API is intended for importers, traders and agencies.
For full production
This API is in private beta. This means you must be invited to use this API with production credentials.
It will be available more widely in the future.
For testing
If you are considering using this API in the future, you can try out its sandbox endpoints now.
To do this, you need to create a DEFRA developer account.
